Testimonial EBF Board (Secretary & HR Officer)

Hi there, and great to see you’re interested in doing a board year for the EBF! It’s a once in a life-time opportunity for an amazing year, during which you will definitely learn a lot.

My EBF board adventure started in 2019 as candidate Secretary & HR Officer. In the first months, you get to know your fellow board members very well and learn a lot about the association and your position.

What I really liked about the position of Secretary & HR Officer was the combination of the tasks. On the one hand, you are responsible for the planning and communication of the EBF. This means you have a good overview and are up to date of all things happening within the association and you are the first contact person for anyone reaching out to the EBF. On the other hand, you are responsible for the active members of the association. Together with the Project & Internationalisation Officer, you get the opportunity to recruit new active members. It’s very nice to see these committees and executive boards work together and organise amazing events during the rest of the year! Also, you get to guide some of these committees yourself. This is a great opportunity to learn how to best support different groups and individuals.

While all board members have their specific tasks, it’s great to see what you accomplish as a group as well. For example, the pandemic suddenly changed the entire course of our board year. This meant we had to arrange and adjust many things, especially the first weeks. Although this was not one of the fun parts we had imagined when we applied for a board year, I am still very proud of how well we worked together as a team during that period.

Besides all the opportunities to develop yourself and gain practical skills, a board year is also just lots and lots of fun! I’d definitely recommend to apply if you are up for a challenge, eager to learn and looking for a great time.

If you have any questions or want to hear more about my experiences, feel free to contact me. I hope to see you during one of our EBF Board-, or amazing Secretary & HR reunions!

Best wishes,

Inès
