Testimonial EBF Board (Treasurer)

Joining the EBF Board is definitely one of the highlights of my entire study time. After being active in several EBF Committees during my bachelor, I decided to apply for the position of EBF Treasurer. Being a board member is a very valuable experience. As the EBF Board, you are basically responsible for a small organisation, and everything that has something to do with that.

During my board year, I learned a lot, in many different aspects. I have never worked together this close with 7 other people. Spending so much time together, we quickly became a family, and still see each other regularly. As a board member, you immediately get a lot of responsibilities. You have a lot of freedom in determining your policy and what you want to focus on within the association. As the EBF Treasurer, I also had a lot of financial freedom in the EBF Budget, while at the same time also being responsible for a positive financial result of the association and the committees. I learned a lot about decision making, communication to different parties, working in a team and also about the financial aspects of an organisation.

One of the best things about the EBF Board is the amount of people you get to meet and help. Besides my fellow board members, I met so many EBF (Active) Members, members and boards from other associations, inspiring speakers and people working at interesting companies.

Nowadays, I work as an auditor at EY. In finding my job, it was definitely valuable to have already met so many companies and learned about a lot of different jobs when starting my search. I still use the skills I gained during my board year on a daily basis. Not only the financial skills I gained, but even more so the social skills that I gained from interacting with all those students, companies and other people.

Applying for the EBF Board is still one of the best decisions I ever made, and I cherish the memories I made during that year. I can recommend the experience to everyone, so for anyone still in doubt: apply!
