Testimonial EBF Board (Career Officer)

If you are motivated, you are capable of doing anything!

My board year felt like a once in a lifetime experience! You learn so much, meet so many new people and organize great events where you can look back to your whole life!
For me, applying for the board year felt as a natural step in my life. I have been active since my second year and I wanted an extra challenge. The EBF offered me this opportunity and I have never doubted to start and try to apply: and with success! A little advice from me: If you are motivated for something, always try it! I believe that if you are really motivated you can convince everyone that you are capable of anything!

I applied for multiple positions, with the EBF Career Officer position on top. This was a position that I thought that would fit me as a person and my personal interests the best. If you have any doubts about what position fits with you, please contact the responsible person and people who have knowledge about it. This will help you tremendously. As the EBF Career Officer, I have a few highlights that I want to share with you:

• As the Career Officer you are responsible for the career portfolio. Here, you have a lot of freedom to come up with new ideas and events. I introduced the EBF Skillsday to develop students and their skills for a more prosperous career!

• You have a lot of external contacts. I loved to speak to many different people throughout the week. From students to recruiters and from lecturers to bars and restaurants. This requires flexibility and communication skills. 

• Have you seen it? The TEDxUniversityofGroningen? Although this is a University wide event, this was one of my goals, and as a board, to organise with EBF. I am so happy to see that the innovations you bring in will be realized if you put enough effort in it!

You will probably hear a lot of inspiring stories from people who did a board year and one thing: all the experiences are amazing. At the EBF, you will gain a lot of responsibility really quickly, manage the biggest study association of Groningen and increase your network tremendously. 

Do not hesitate to step out of your comfort zone, find new experiences and let your board year be a success. You will work together with new lifelong friends who you will have an experience with, which you will never forget!
